Websites and Email for Small Business

A site that brings in the right calls and email that lands in the inbox.

For most trades and small firms the website has one job: a buyer searches, lands, trusts and calls. I write and build sites that do that job, fast on a phone, with your credentials and the services people search for up front. Then I set up the domain, DNS, hosting and business email and look after them so you do not have to think about them again.

Built to be found and trusted

Brochure sites that do their one job

Structure and copy organised around what your buyers type into a search box, with the compliance points, licences and certifications industrial and commercial clients look for placed where they will see them. Photos sized and prepared so pages stay fast. No trackers and no cookie banner, so nothing slows the page or annoys the visitor.

For a licensed electrical contractor this meant a brochure site with image prep, hosting on a global edge network and the credentials buyers care about on the first screen. Sites ship with a page speed and accessibility check and a sitemap search engines can read.

Email that lands in the inbox

An envelope with a padlock, representing secure business email.

Business email, done properly

Email on your own domain, with the records that stop it being marked as spam (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) set up and monitored, mailboxes and aliases organised and migration from whatever you used before. For a window and door manufacturer this fixed mail that had been landing in spam. If you prefer not to run on a big provider, a private mail service hosted in Canada is available as well.

I also look after the boring parts that bite: domain renewals, DNS changes, certificate renewals and the forwarding rule someone set up three years ago that everyone has forgotten about.

Looked after, year after year

Hosting, updates and small changes

A good site stays good because someone keeps it that way. Hosting, backups, updates and security stay with me, with the same monitoring and monthly report as everything else I run. Copy and photo changes come to me by email and are billed by the hour, with no page builder to log in to.

WordPress sites are welcome too, patched through a staging copy with a rollback ready, and custom plugins written where the site needs something an off the shelf plugin cannot do.

Online stores and anything with logins are quoted under custom apps or managed services.

Jobs are quoted in writing after a free scope, so you know the number before any work starts.

What you end up with

  • A site that loads fast on a phone and says what buyers need to hear first
  • Email that reaches the inbox, on your own domain
  • Domain, DNS, hosting and certificates handled, with nothing left to expire
  • Changes done for you, and a monthly note on what happened
  • A path to an online store or an app when you outgrow it

Website and email questions

  • Yes. The domain is registered in your name, the code and content are yours, and if you ever leave you take all of it with you.

Sites and email already out there

We're a family sheep farm, and Viscous Bits is who we call for anything technical, desktop support, our email, the website and online store, troubleshooting, and whatever else comes up. They really know their stuff. It has saved us a lot of time and we get more done. They're dependable, and I'd recommend them to any small business that needs help with its technology. We're so grateful for their support.
