About Viscous Bits Computing
About The Owner
My name is Henry and I’ve spent over 25 years in the tech industry working in telecommunications, systems and software development roles. I didn’t start Viscous Bits because I wanted to build another IT company. I started it because the Internet I grew up with, the one I learned form, contributed to and helped to build, is disappearing.
During this time I’ve engineered networks, created automated solutions from Open Source software, improved software security, hardened systems and processes, helped roll out high-speed services for tens of thousands in my old home town and assisted companies to redundantly interconnect their offices with a variety of telecommunication technologies. Over those years, I can see a troubling shift... Privacy, once a default setting, has become a premium product that most are being forced to trade away for simple convenience.

A Mission-Driven Approach to Digital Independence

Why I Do This
I believe privacy is a fundamental human right, not a luxury. It is not something we should feel must be traded away for safety. Wanting privacy doesn't mean you have something bad to hide. Today, 'Big Tech' doesn't just provide services, it harvests your life to build profiles that are sold to the highest bidder. For most people, the technical hurdles to 'opt-out' of this surveillance are simply too high to clear alone. That’s where I decided I can make a difference, to use my skills and experience to help you restore your digital boundaries.
Security through dedication

What Is Important Deserves Protection
True digital independence is impossible without a foundation of uncompromising security. I don’t believe in 'good enough' or default configurations that leave you vulnerable. Whether it is hardening a Linux workstation, automating secure infrastructure or deploying encrypted communication channels, I treat your data with the same rigor I use for my own. Security isn't a one-time setup, it is a continuous commitment to staying ahead of threats and ensuring that your private life and business interests stay exactly that, private.
A Philosophy of Empowerment and Transparency

My Philosophy
I don’t believe in 'black box' solutions where you have to trust me blindly. I show my customers what they're getting and explain solutions in ways they can be understood. I advocate for Digital Sovereignty, the idea that you should own your data, your identity, and the very hardware you use. We practice what we preach, with a commitment to deep security, no vendor lock-in, and honest assessments. My goal isn't just to fix your tech, it's to give you your digital life back.
